For adults & children on the spectrum or living with I/DD; personal wellness and meaningful relationships are often interrupted by dysregulation leading to severe behaviors.
Have you experienced a loved one in the throws of frustration who is unable to self-regulate? Do you have a loved one with obsessive behaviors or fears that limit their social abilities? Is there a history of trauma that affects self-regulation?
Heightened stress reactivity is common in our disability community. Severe behaviors occur when a stress trigger is unmanaged. A weakened neurological system coupled with deficits in the sensory system and the behaviors can be quite severe. We observe various levels of frustrations physically, emotionally, and mentally when dysregulation occurs with a stressor. The brain will follow default patterns until mindfulness is introduced and neurological repatterning is established.
There is a program to improve emotional and physical self-regulation and retrain the neurological system into a more relaxed baseline that responds effectively to stressors. This training is coupled with mindfulness skills training and produces competency in self-regulation. This program is called CalmCycling and is an effective solution offered through the Regional Center as a vendorized service to those who qualify or choose to participate. It is possible for many living on the spectrum or with I/DD diagnosis to live happy, peaceful & confident lives through this training.

What others say:
"One of the best if not the best therapy my son has ever received. My son has learned how to self-regulate his emotions which has significantly reduced his aggressive behaviors. This has removed a lot of stress that our family had been experiencing. My son has learned many techniques to relax and manage his emotions, which he initiates on his own. This is in itself and of itself an amazing achievement. He looks forward to his weekly CalmCycling program sessions. I would recommend the CalmCycling program to anyone." MM, Contra Costa County
"Keira Lynn does amazing work with our adult autistic son who has difficulty remaining calm in public and can often misread other people. Her techniques include breathing, mindfulness, and yoga. I highly recommend her for her work with adults with developmental disabilities." LS, Contra Costa CountyÂ
